Update: 12 Acre Gover Fire Sparked By Lawnmower

A fire that broke out Monday afternoon east of Cottonwood was human-caused, according to Cal-Fire investigators. The “Gover Fire” started along Gover Road at around 2:30PM. It was burning in dry grass with a moderate rate of spread. Firefighters were able to contain it to about 12 acres with the help of some green irrigated fields. It was apparently sparked by a lawnmower and a man was cited for improper use of lawn equipment.
