While you may enjoy fireworks and BBQ’s on the 4th, remember that those events aren’t as fun for your pets. Haven Humane reports a spike in lost pets every Summer as your furry friends try to find relief from the noise. Leave them at home in the air conditioned temperatures and where they feel comfortable, try to leave them indoors. If they must be outdoors, a garage where they can’t run is a better alternative. Make sure they have shade and cool water to drink. If they do end up at the shelter you have a better chance of being reunited if they are micro-chipped. A collar with ID is also a good idea, but those can easily be lost. Also remember with hot temperatures it is never a good idea to leave your pet in the car for any length of time.
