Interstate 5 Rollover Fatality Named

A man who died in a rollover crash on Interstate 5 in north Redding this week has been identified by the Shasta County Coroners Office as 85-year-old James Lee Thompson of Redding. At around 4:40 Wednesday afternoon a 1998 Honda Accord driven by Thompson was northbound when it drifted into the center median. Thompson overcorrected and the car went across both lanes before hitting an embankment on the right side and rolling over, coming to rest on its roof. Thompson was the only person in the car, and he suffered fatal injuries. Traffic backed up quickly as it came to a standstill for a lengthy time.
