Investigators Say Chico Man Murdered Missing Redding Woman In 2019

After a lengthy investigation involving more than a dozen agencies in two states, an arrest has been made in the disappearance of a Redding woman. 28-year-old Danielle Renee Bisnell apparently left Redding on December 8th, 2019 and traveled to Central Oregon on Interstate 5 with 65-year-old Erick Eugene Card, who she had met that morning at the 7-11 on Eureka Way. Redding Police Detectives believe Bisnell was under the influence of drugs and unstable, and they say Card took advantage of her vulnerability. They believe that she pleaded with Card to return her to Redding for her son’s 7th birthday, but Card refused. The last time she spoke with friends and family was two days after she left, when she said she was on her way back home from Oregon with Card. That night, he allegedly murdered her in Siskiyou County. Bisnell’s remains have not been found, but detectives say they have substantial evidence linking Card to her death. He was arrested at his Chico home last week and booked into Siskiyou County Jail. Police say Card has a history of befriending women who appear distressed or intoxicated, usually at convenience stores, and he had done so with another woman just hours before his arrest. Anyone who has had contact with Card is urged to call detectives at 225-4214. Redding Police have spent hundreds of hours on the case and traveled all over Southern Oregon and Northern California seeking clues and interviewing witnesses.
