Jeep Drivers Rescued By CHP Helicopter After Attempting To Cross Thomes Creek

A couple of off-roaders were taught the limits of their 4×4’s in Tehama County Friday evening. Two Jeep drivers tried to make it across Thomes Creek near Corning. Part of the way across, the water level came up over the hoods of both jeeps and they were hopelessly stuck. Both women climbed on their roofs and called for help, which eventually came in the form of a CHP helicopter, which hoisted both drivers to the shore. Recovering the Jeeps may prove a bit more complicated. It was certainly not a necessary route, as the photos posted by the CHP show the Interstate 5 bridge in the background.
