July Lightning Fires Nearly Defeated

Wildland firefighters are getting an upper hand on all the Northstate lightning fires.

There’s still a lot of interior burning on the Big Cliff Fire southwest of Etna. It’s 33% contained after burning 963 acres. Crews have kept the fire from spreading beyond established control lines.

The Clark Fire is located near railroad tracks in the Pit River Canyon north of Little Valley in Lassen County. It’s burned 51 acres and is 50% contained.

Suppression repair continues on the 19,022 acre Green Fire on the northeast edge of Lake Shasta, which is 99% contained.

It’s all mop-up and patrolling for hot spots on the 21,058 acre Butler Fire between Forks of Salmon and Orleans Mountain, which remains 96% contained.
