The unemployment rate for Shasta County has edged up slightly. It was 5.3% last month, compared to 4.6% in May and 4.8% in June of last year. The labor force remained unchanged month-to-month and gained 400 since 2023. Moderate job losses were seen last month in government education and business services, while small gains were seen in construction, as well as leisure and hospitality. Tehama County had a 6.1% jobless rate. It was 5.2% in Trinity County and 6% in Siskiyou County. The statewide rate matched Shasta County at 5.3%, while it was 4.3% nationally.
