The 38th Annual Labor Day Picnic sponsored by the Five Counties Central Labor Council will be held Monday from 11 to 3 at the main BBQ area of Anderson River Park. Meal tickets are five dollars, which buys a hot dog, hamburger, or chicken and beans and chips. Proceeds go toward scholarships. There will be a watermelon eating contest and live music by the Fire Mountain Rock Band. There’s also a kids fishing derby, plus other events for the kids. It’s all to celebrate working men and women and to honor the advances labor unions have won for all workers.
