Cal-Fire/Shasta County Fire is planning to conduct a large prescribed burn east of Redding Thursday. If conditions are right, 527 acres will be torched on the Dash Ranch, located in Oak Run at the top of Carpenter Grade to the south of Oak Run Road. The goal of the continuing vegetation management project is to reduce fuels that could feed wildfires, and to provide live fire training for new personnel. Smoke will be visible from many miles around, and will likely linger through Friday.
