Parts of the Bidwell Park in Chico re-opened over the weekend. That’s where the Park Fire began over three weeks ago after authorities say 42-year-old Ronnie Dean Stout of Chico pushed a burning vehicle over a cliff sparking the blaze. Over the weekend parts of the Lassen National Park also re-opened with Highway 89 opening from Manzanita Lake to the Devastated Area. Beyond there it is only open to bicycles and pedestrians. Although the fire never entered the park, the area to the south will remain closed due to activity which is still threatening Mineral and Mill Creek. Butte Lake, Juniper Lake, and the Warner Valley remain closed. The museum and store at Manzanita Lake are open, however supplies are limited, and there is no gas available.
