In a surreal moment at Tuesday’s Shasta County Board of Supervisors meeting, District 2 candidate Laura Hobbs stepped up to the podium and presented a photo of a license plate from District 3 Supervisor Mary Rickert’s vehicle that included a “666”. Hobbs asked Rickert if she was a Satanist. Rickert replied that she did not choose that plate, it was given to her randomly by the DMV. She added that Hobbs was being bizarre and embarrassing herself, and that it was an invasion of privacy that Rickert resented. Hobbs told her to repent and walked away.
