Lawsuit Filed Over Vote To Name Audette Mayor Of Redding

The Redding City Council is being sued over the way they picked the current Mayor. Tenessa Audette was made mayor by a 3-2 vote of the council in December. The complaint, filed by Kathryn McDonald was filed earlier this month. She alleges that the vote runs counter to seven residents who spoke at the meeting, and according to tradition, then Vice-Mayor Mark Mezanno should have been chosen as Mayor. She alleges violation of the Brown Act because there was no discussion of why the vote went the way it did. She is asking the council to correct the vote that also made Julie Winter Vice Mayor. Both are members of Bethel Church.
