A number of lightning fires have been spotted on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. They all have had slow rates of spread, and most have been extinguished.
The very small Waterman Fire was southwest of Hirz Bay at Lake Shasta.
The Stuart Fire near Trinity Lake is a tenth of an acre.
The Rich Fire east of Ridgeville near Trinity Lake is about an acre and a half.
The Muddy Fire west of Bagley was estimated at 3 acres, and has been accessed by smoke jumpers.
Meanwhile, the Forest Service is conducting a series of controlled burns two miles east of Pilgrim Creek Snowmobile Park in the McCloud Flats. A total of 164 acres is being torched.
