Monday is Patriot Day, the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks on the United States, marked locally with a sunrise ceremony at the giant American Flag on North Bechelli Lane in Redding to honor the victims and heroic first responders of that terrible day. The event was organized by the Enterprise Lions, the keepers of the flag, and Redding Fire Department. The MC’s this year were Don and Heather from the K-Shasta morning show.
There will also be a memorial ceremony and candlelight vigil this evening at the Shasta Lake City Fire Hall on Shasta Dam Boulevard, where there’s a piece of steel from the World Trade Center on display. Food and drinks are served at 6 O’clock and the ceremony is at 7 O’clock.
