If it seems like there was more of a police presence on the streets of Redding and neighboring cities over the past week, that’s because there was. Redding, Anderson and Shasta Lake City did a couple of “collaborative traffic enforcement operations”, working together to target violations like speeding, distracted driving, DUI, and other major causes of collisions. The extra staffing is funded through grants from the State Office of Traffic Safety. The effort resulted in dozens of citations issued, and more of these operations are planned for the future.
