Redding Police and other area public safety agencies are getting into the pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. As part of the campaign, vehicles belonging to Redding and Anderson Police, Redding Fire Department, and Shasta County Sheriff, District Attorney, Marshal’s and Probation Departments are all sporting pink. The official unveiling will take place at 9 O’clock Thursday morning at Signarama on Caterpillar Road. The wraps are temporary and can be peeled off at the end of the month. Signarama is providing the materials and labor for free. Signarama is also donating pink patches representing all those departments as well as SHASCOM 911. They can be purchased for $10 each or $50 for the set of eight, and are available in the lobby of each department. Other think pink activities are listed on the KQMS Facebook Page. Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer and will affect one in 8 women. However it’s also one of the most treatable and with early detection it has a survival rate of around 98%. The “Think Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness” campaign that started here in Redding has spread all over the world.
