Local Republicans Stand Behind Crye As Recall Effort Is Announced

The Shasta County Republican Central Committee has declared it’s support for embattled County Supervisor Kevin Crye, saying they strongly oppose his recall. A statement by the Shasta GOP Chair defines a recall as “An expensive attempt to remove a duly elected official on vague and superfluous grounds.”. Last week a group called Shasta County Citizens For Stable Governance served Crye with a notice of intent, citing a series of decisions, including the canceling of the Dominion Voting Systems contract and Crye’s county-funded trip to Minnesota to meet with “My Pillow” founder Mike Lindell. Around 4,000 signatures will be needed to get the recall on a ballot. Last year when Leonard Moty was recalled, Tim Garmin took his place. Republicans warn that a new state law gives the Governor the power to appoint an interim replacement. Crye was elected to his position over Erin Resner with a difference of fewer than 100 votes.
