Longtime “Freedom In Action” Host Passes Away After Cancer Fight

A local attorney and longtime host of ‘Freedom in Action’ on KQMS has passed away. After a brief battle with cancer, Pete Peters died on Saturday morning with his wife, patty at his side. Peters began the call-in program 13 years ago with sidekick Greg Mann and later hosted the program solo. Peters was an Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam era as a navigator and refueler. He was born in Monroe Illinois in 1943, attended Shasta College and the McGeorge School of Law at UC Davis. He served as a Shasta County Supervisor, and was active in the Redding Rodeo, and the militia. He is survived by his wife, patty, and four daughters. Services will held at the Veterans Cemetery in Igo, likely in early May. The program “Freedom in Action” will continue with hosts Bill Schappelle, and Kelly Frost SR Saturday mornings from 7-9AM. Former co-host Greg Mann also recently passed away in Colorado.
