Low Flying Helicopters Will Be Inspecting Power Lines Near Shingletown On Wednesday

Helicopters contracted by PG&E will be flying low in the Shingletown area Wednesday to check the safety of electrical transmission lines and to practice the inspection checks that occur after a public safety power shutoff. During Wednesday’s activity, helicopters will be flying at 250 feet, or lower if a closer look is needed. The helicopters are equipped with Lidar Technology to conduct the surveys and gather data about potential fire dangers near power lines. Ground crews may follow up with further inspections and, if necessary, trimming or removal of dangerous trees.
