Man Accused Of Murdering His Mother In 2023 Will Appear In Court On May 30th

A man accused of murdering his mother in the Shasta Lake City area has waived his right to a preliminary hearing after previously pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. 50-year-old Yose Elizabeth Barron-Alcazar was stabbed to death the morning of May 24th of last year in her home on Lynda Lynn Way off Union School Road. The 9-1-1 call had been made by her son, 22-year-old Jacob Jesse Mandujano of Redwood City, who was outside when deputies arrived. Last June his attorney requested that he be mentally evaluated before further proceedings. That evaluation led to his being referred to state mental authorities. He returned in January and made the insanity plea. Two court appointed doctors declared him competent enough to understand the charges. He’ll be arraigned again on May 30th, and is being held on a Million Dollars bail.
