A Shasta Lake City man is being held without bail as he awaits prosecution for murder and other charges from a crash that killed a Redding man in November of last year. 78-year-old Jose Luis Zuno was killed on Hartnell Avenue when his Chevy pickup was struck by another Chevy pickup driven by 31-year-old Daviontay Norwood. Zuno was pulling onto Hartnell from the driveway of a business a little east of Churn Creek road when he was hit. He was trapped in his pickup and unconscious as Redding Fire personnel extricated him. He was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Police determined that Norwood was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. He also had a suspended driver’s license and was on probation for a previous DUI. Norwood’’s passenger fled on foot right after the crash. Norwood was arraigned last Thursday for murder, reckless driving, driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, possession of Cocaine and Methamphetamine and other charges. He’ll return to court April 11th.
