Man Arrested After 28 Mile Chase In Shasta County

The Sheriff’s Office says a wanted man led them on a chase and injured a K9. Just before Midnight Wednesday night deputies tried to pull over a car for a lighting violation on Old Oregon Trail at Oasis Road. The driver fled recklessly and at high speed, leading deputies east on Highway 299 for 28 miles. In the Round Mountain area the car lost a tire and the driver fled on foot. He tried to take shelter in someone’s house but they made him leave. A CHP helicopter and a K9 were used to search the woods. Kilo the K9 was struck above his eye with a stick, causing an abrasion. 53-year-old Jesse James Christie was arrested. He allegedly had Methamphetamine, and the car was stolen. He’s in jail on $100,000 bail.
