Man Arrested After High Speed Chase Ends At Red Bluff Rest Area

A driver led Anderson Police on a high speed chase very early Thursday morning. At about 2:30AM an officer saw an older model Ford work truck with a flatbed heading south on Highway 273 near Ox Yoke Road at around 100 miles an hour. The officer caught up to the truck by Third Street but the driver didn’t stop, instead heading onto Southbound Interstate 5. Speed varied between 80 and 95 miles an hour until the chase reached the rest area north of Red Bluff and the driver suddenly veered in and parked in the lot. He started yelling to the officers that he just wanted to get out of Redding. 52-year-old Matthew Mikkelson of Los Robles reportedly said during an interview that he had stolen the truck from a trailer park in Redding.
