Man Arrested After Shots Are Fired At Deputies In Trinity County

A Weaverville man was taken into custody Wednesday afternoon after reportedly shooting at Trinity County Deputies with a pellet gun. Shortly after 4 O’clock hikers called 9-1-1 from a trail system off Taylor Street in Weaverville to report an unstable man armed with a gun. When deputies found the man, they say he immediately fired on them. They took cover and negotiated with the man and he eventually surrendered. Identified as 38-year-old Timothy Nunez, he was booked into jail. A .177 caliber pellet pistol was found near where he had been holed up.
