Man Arrested For Disrupting Tuesday’s Shasta County Supervisors Meeting

The husband of a Redding woman who was convicted in December for disturbing a Shasta County Board of Supervisors meeting was arrested for allegedly doing the same thing Tuesday. Benjamin Nowain was arrested because he refused to leave the chamber for speaking out from his seat after being warned once not to do so. Nowain was taken by two sheriff’s deputies to the Shasta County Jail, where he was booked for disturbing a public meeting, which is a misdemeanor. His arrest, confirmed by the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, comes nearly three weeks after his wife, Jenny O’Connell-Nowain, was found guilty on December 18th by a Shasta County jury for disturbing a November 7th 2024 supervisors meeting. Nowain was released from jail on his own recognizance after he was booked. He is scheduled to appear in court in March.
