A Shasta County jury has convicted a man in an Oak Run double murder. In November of 2021, the bodies of 32-year-old Meba Solomon Getachew of Ashland and 33-year-old Gunnar Eliot Yeager of Medford were found next to two parked vehicles on a dirt road off of Zig Zag Lane, which is off Oak Run to Fern Road. Both victims had been shot to death. 39-year-old Simon Abraham Tikue was arrested the following September. The victims had come to Shasta County to sell marijuana to Tikue, who robbed and murdered them. DNA was recovered from a glove he left at the scene. It matched DNA found in another robbery and kidnapping case. In September of 2018 when another victim was going to sell marijuana to Tikue, they met at the Best Buy in Redding and Tikue held the man at gunpoint while binding him with zip ties and driving him in his car to a remote location. Tikue’s DNA was on the zip ties and the steering wheel. Tuesday Tikuwe was found guilty of two counts of first degree murder, kidnapping for robbery and several other charges. He’ll face life in prison without the possibility of parole when he’s sentenced September 25th.
