Man Faces 3rd Strike Charge After Stabbing Near The Rodeo Grounds

A man accused of a stabbing in Redding last week is being held on a Million Dollars bail. On Sunday night July 27th, Redding Police were sent to the boat ramp behind the rodeo arena, where they found a man with a stab wound to his lower neck. He was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A description of the suspect led officers to arrest 48-year-old Jason Wiebusch a short time later at Lake Redding Park. Wiebusch is already on parole for assault with great bodily injury and had an active arrest warrant. He’s had multiple prior strike offences and the District Attorney’s Office says they’ll prosecute this as a third strike. A preliminary hearing is set for this Thursday.
