Man Killed After Crashing Home Made ATV In Rancho Tehama

A 24-year-old man died in a collision in Rancho Tehama west of Corning on Wednesday. At 4:40PM the man was driving a home-built all-terrain-vehicle on Hillcrest Drive west of Oak Park Road. The CHP says he was traveling at high speed and cut to the inside of a curve, crossing over to the other side of the road and into the path of an oncoming Chevy Silverado driven by Maria Favela, with passengers Angel Favela and a 10-year-old girl. They collided head-on, throwing the 24-year-old from the ATV. He was not wearing a helmet or any other safety equipment, and he died after being transported to Saint Elizabeth Hospital in Red Bluff. The three occupants of the pickup were wearing seatbelts and were uninjured.
