A man accused of murdering his mother in the Shasta Lake City area has pled not guilty by reason of insanity. 50-year-old Yose Elizabeth Barron-Alcazar was stabbed to death the morning of May 24th of last year in her home on Lynda Lynn Way off Union School Road. The 9-1-1 call had been made by her son, 21-year-old Jacob Jesse Mandujano of Redwood City, who was outside when deputies arrived. In June his attorney requested that he be mentally evaluated before further proceedings. That evaluation led to his being referred to state mental authorities. Mandujano made the new plea in court on Thursday. Two court appointed doctors will make evaluations and return to court March 11th to determine Mandujano’s readiness for a preliminary hearing.
