Man Rescued From Deep Snow While Hiking On The Pacific Crest Trail

A hiker had to be rescued after discovering the difficulty of traversing the Pacific Crest Trail in Winter conditions. The 20-year-old man activated an emergency beacon Sunday afternoon because he could no longer make it through the deep snow. Shasta County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue volunteers used Jeeps and snowmobiles to reach the man near Big Bend, south of Grizzy Peak and east of Lake McCloud. He was uninjured and was delivered to Redding.
