Man Sentenced For Trying to Outdrive the CHP

A reckless driver who played a dangerous high-speed game with law enforcement in Tehama County has been sent to prison. The CHP had gotten reports of a car northbound on Interstate 5 south of Red Bluff that was speeding, weaving across all three lanes of traffic and brake-checking big rigs. A CHP officer took chase of the car and was joined by Tehama County deputies. The driver, Jose Franco-Galvez, drove even faster, continued to swerve all over the freeway and braked checked the pursuing officers. The chase ended next to the Cottonwood Truck Scales, where officers flattened Franco-Galvez’s tires with a spike strip. He resisted arrest and showed signs of being on drugs. He’s been given a 3 year state prison sentence.
