A man was struck and killed by a passenger train in Red Bluff early Monday morning. It was the fourth time in a month that a person in Red Bluff has been struck by a train. At 3:18AM an Amtrak train was southbound when the conductor saw a man sitting on the tracks facing south on the South Main Street/Interstate 5 railroad overpass. The conductor sounded the horn and hit the brakes but there was no chance of stopping the train in time. The Coroners Office recovered the body of the unidentified male victim. After Red Bluff Police completed their investigation, the train was allowed to proceed. On June 4th a 43-year-old woman was struck at the same location after trying to get out of the way and she survived with severe injuries. Two other women were struck and killed by trains elsewhere within Red Bluff on May 23rd and May 29th.
