Man Who Fled To Mexico To Avoid Child Porn Charges Sentenced To Nearly 20 Years In Prison

A 39-year-old Corning man who had fled to Mexico before being brought back to the U.S. to plead guilty to child pornography charges has been sentenced. In July and August of 2020, Eduardo Castillo used a cellphone to go on the Internet and use downloaded images to pose as a teenage girl. Through social media including Snapchat and Instagram, Castillo enticed at least five underage boys to send him sexually explicit videos and images of themselves. He fled to Mexico to avoid prosecution but was found by the F.B.I. and extradited with the help of Mexican authorities. In June he entered a guilty plea in federal court. On Tuesday Castillo was sentenced to 19 years 7 months in federal prison.
