A bank robber has entered a guilty plea in a Shasta County court. 73-year-old Dana Schultz of Burney held up the Banner Bank on Cypress Avenue on December 9th and drove away in his pickup truck with $6,666. Officers spotted the pickup on Southbound Interstate 5 near South Bonnyview and tried to stop it, but the driver sped away. A CHP aircraft tracked the pickup from above as police pursued it on several streets at high speed, including Cedars Road and then Howard Drive up the hill into the Country Heights Neighborhood. When they reached a dead end, Schultz rammed the truck into a Redding Police SUB, but he was trapped and the chase was over. Last week Schultz pled guilty to 2nd degree robbery and assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer. He’ll be given the maximum sentence of 6 years in state prison.
