Man Who Seriously Injured Woman In Domestic Violence Attack Sentenced To 20 Years

A Redding man has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison for a vicious series of domestic violence attacks. 47-year-old Russell Ruben was arrested in October of last year at the Stardust Motel in Downtown Redding. He imprisoned the victim in his motel room while brutalizing her. He punched her in the face until she lost consciousness and when she woke up he was kicking her. He then strangled her, breaking a bone in her neck. When he fell asleep she tried to escape but he woke up and grabbed her by her hair and punched her repeatedly, breaking facial bones. He said he would kill her if she went to the police. When she finally made it out the door he chased all the way to the hospital where she found protection. Last Thursday Ruben pled no contest multiple felony charges.
