A 41-year-old Red Bluff man has been sentenced for threatening a visiting police officer. In November a Sacramento Police Department Officer was sitting in his car in Red Bluff doing surveillance on a case originating in Sacramento when Jerald Nelson Herder confronted him. Herder threatened to shoot the officer and reached into his pocket as if to retrieve a gun. He then made a large dent in the door of the officer’s car before walking away. Herder was later arrested in Gerber. He has a criminal history including felony domestic violence, DUI and other offenses. Convicted of felony vandalism, he’s been sentenced to 3 years in state prison.
