A Mexican citizen has been sentenced in federal court for a large-scale cannabis growing operation in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest. 34-year-old Alejandro Sanchez-Robles was arrested in October of 2022 at the grow site in the Jims Creek area of Trinity county. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says law enforcement found water being diverted from a nearby stream and remnants of over 1,200 pounds of soluble fertilizer, 20 Gallons of liquid fertilizer, more than 50 Pounds of rodenticide and at least one dead animal. 1,708 growing plants were destroyed. Sanchez-Robles has been sentenced to just over 3 years in federal prison, and must pay almost $69,000 restitution to the Forest Service for the damage he caused.
