A young Redding mother is accused of murdering her own baby. In January medical help was called to Deschutes Road at Highway 44 in Palo Cedro for an unresponsive 2-year-old girl in a car. Fire personnel and paramedics immediately started treating the child and transported her to a hospital, where she later died. The circumstances were considered suspicious and since the mother lived in Redding, RPD Detectives began investigating. They believe the mother, 21-year-old Macie Marie Silvey, had fed the little girl multiple prescription drugs to intentionally cause an overdose, and drove her to a rural area for multiple hours to prevent her receiving medical care in time. On Tuesday Silvey was booked into jail for kidnapping and murder. She’s being held without bail.
