All over the country Millions of people will lock their doors, turn on their porch lights, and go outside to meet their neighbors Tuesday for the annual National Night Out. The idea is that when you know your neighbors and they know you, it’s more difficult for criminal activity to take place unnoticed. Since each neighborhood’s block party is their own affair, there are no set times, but the events generally run from around 6 or 6:30PM until around 9 O’clock. The City of Redding opts to celebrate National Night out in October when it’s a little cooler outside, but events are planned for other communities Tuesday, including Anderson and Red Bluff. Anderson Police will host a party at the Splash Pad at Anderson River Park from 5PM to 9PM. They’ll give K9 demos and food trucks will be on site. In Red Bluff, events will be held in each of the five service areas of the city, with details at rbpd.org.
