Nearly 2 Thousand Personnel Are Battling The Shelly Fire In Siskiyou County

The Shelly Fire, which started last Wednesday near Shelly Lake in the Marble Mountains Wilderness of Siskiyou County, has now burned 10,255 acres, now with containment of 1%. One person has been injured. Evacuation orders and warnings are affecting about 4,200 people with more than 4,000 structures threatened. That fire is being fought by both Cal-Fire and the Forest Service, with 2,488 personnel on scene.

The Bogus Fire near Little Bogus Creek in Northern Siskiyou County is 60% contained after burning 411 acres.

The North Fire in Modoc County has not expanded after burning 4,389 acres of Sageland. It’s now 65% contained.

A vegetation fire Thursday burned 5 acres of grass off Ball Mountain Little Shasta Road near Montague.

A fire near Covelo in Northern Mendocino County has burned 98 acres and is 70% contained.

Early Friday morning Redding Fire extinguished a 50 by 50 foot spot off Linden Avenue and West Street down the hill from Mercy Hospital.

Thursday afternoon a debris burn pile escaped control at a home on Branstetter Lane in South Redding. The responsible person was briefly detained.
