New Building Used By Sheriff’s Department is Vast

The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office has a new state-of-the-art facility to house their South County Patrol Station, as well as the Office of Emergency Services. The OES is moving from its previous home on Progress Drive off Eastside Road. The South County Patrol Division is very glad to be moving out of their dilapidated headquarters at the county campus on Breslauer Way. In 2020 the county purchased a building on Lockheed Drive near the Redding Regional Airport. It was the previous home of the architectural firm Sharrah-Dunlap-Sawyer. It’s been retrofitted for the Sheriff’s Department and is well equipped and well located. Undersheriff Gene Randall says the facility will really shine during disasters when it can host multiple other agencies and provide them the resources and connectivity they need. It sits on 17 acres and will eventually include a warehouse to store vehicles and equipment. A ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony was held Thursday.
