Update: New Shasta County Courthouse Will Open In February

The new six story Shasta County Courthouse that’s been under construction for five years in Downtown Redding is ready to move into. February will not be the most convenient timeframe to interact with the court system because their entire mass of operational infrastructure, files and other miscelannaea will be moving a block away to the new 173,000 square foot building now dominating the downtown area. Starting January 25th, supplies and older court files will be moved. From February 7th through that weekend everything involving civil courts will be on the move and access will be nearly impossible. That will also include juvenile cases, family court, appeals, the Marshal’s Office and more. Those will all be open for business on the 13th. The next day will begin the move for criminal, traffic, collections and mental health, all of which will be reopened on the 20th in fourteen brand new courtrooms. A formal public dedication of the new $175 Million courthouse will be on an undetermined date in the Spring.
