The unemployment rate has edged up in Shasta County. November’s 5.2% rate is up from 4.9% in October and 4.4% in November of last year. The year-over increase is led by a loss of 2,000 government jobs, the great majority of which were in local government educational services. There was also a decrease of 2,200 people in the workforce. The jobless rate in Tehama County was 5.6% last month. It was 5.3% in Trinity County and 6.1% in Siskiyou County. The statewide rate was 4.9% and it was 3.5% nationally.
