After leading Redding Police on multiple high speed pursuits in two days, a Redding parolee was captured by the Neighborhood Police Unit. On Tuesday an officer tried to pull over a purple Mercedes SUV that had an object concealing the license plate. The driver managed to evade capture, but the SUV was found a short time later in a parking lot. An investigation led officers to believed the driver was 23-year-old Andrew Nilsen, who had two felony warrants and was on Post Release Supervision for domestic violence and felony evading. On Wednesday officers say they saw the same SUV on Gold Street with Nilsen driving and they tried to stop him, but when he fled at high speed they terminated the pursuit for public safety concerns. They kept track of him though and tried to stop him several times around town but each time he fled, apparently nearly striking officers and patrol cars. Eventually he was stopped with spike strips and surrendered.
