An Oregon man has made a court appearance on allegations of murdering his Redding cousin. 35-year-old Christopher Allen Catterson was reported missing by his family in October of 2021. He had gone fishing at Keswick Lake so deputies searched that area and found Catterson’s pickup, then they found his body. The death was determined to be suspicious and detectives then learned that Catterson had gone fishing with his cousin, 37-year-old Clayton Allen Stearns of Klamath Falls. Search warrants were served in Oregon and physical evidence was apparently recovered that led to the arrest of Stearns. He’s being held without bail in Shasta County Jail. His preliminary hearing is set for December 14th.
