Parents Arrested After Overdose of Young Child

A Redding couple is accused of exposing their young child to Fentanyl. Wednesday, police and medical personnel were called to Excel Academy as an 8-year-old child was showing signs of having a drug overdose. School administrators treated the child with Narcan. The child was then taken to a hospital and is recovering. Officers went to where the parents were staying in a downtown Redding motel room, and they reported finding drug paraphernalia. 36-year-old James Timmons and 32-year-old Constance McCray allegedly admitted to smoking fentanyl in the small room in the presence of their 8-year-old. Both were booked into jail.
