Park Service Prepares For Crowds Celebrating Independence Day

If you are planning a trip to the outdoors this holiday weekend remember that they will be very crowded, and the earlier you arrive the better the chances are you will avoid traffic delays and find a place to park. Backups have been reported at the entrance to the Burney Falls State Park and officials are warning that there are pedestrians in the area. Patience is a must. Parking restrictions will be enforced. At the Lassen National Park, the highway is open all the way through the park, but again be aware that there will be heavy traffic, and pedestrians. Prepare for Winter driving conditions at the higher elevations and watch for road construction. Whiskeytown is also prepared for crowds and heavy traffic. Arrive early to find parking. On Whiskeytown and at Shasta Lake the Sheriffs Department and Park Rangers are looking for those impaired while operating boats. Alcohol is a major factor in recreational boating deaths and injuries. The Beach Bus to Whiskeytown operates on the weekends, and will not be operating on July 4th.
