People doing their civic duty through jury service in Shasta County will now be given $100 a day, starting on the second day of attendance. The current rate is $15 a day. Also, mileage reimbursement will be nearly doubled from 34 Cents to 67 Cents per mile round trip. Shasta is one of seven courts statewide that are part of a pilot program to see if more compensation will boost participation in jury service. The program will continue until early 2026 or until the funding runs out, and then its effectiveness will be evaluated.
