Pipe Repairs Will Cause Water Level Fluctuations At Whiskeytown

Residents may notice changing water levels at Whiskeytown Reservoir in Shasta County over the next several months. Starting Tuesday the Bureau of Reclamation will close the Clear Creek Tunnel for maintenance and repairs. The 17-foot-wide, 10-mile-long tunnel carries water from Lewiston Reservoir through the Carr Powerhouse into Whiskeytown Reservoir. With the tunnel closed, water will no longer be diverted, leading to fluctuating reservoir levels. Repairs are expected to continue until April 2025. Visitors and residents are advised to plan accordingly during this period.
