A low income apartment complex is proposed for an East Redding site where construction is already underway on another low income project. The 2 story Hill Country Health and Wellness Center of Hope, with a primary care clinic providing medical, dental and behavioral health services, is being built on Industrial Street next to the Post Office. The project also includes a residential building with 16 studio apartments intended for transitional aged youth between 18 and 24 years old. The expanded proposal is for a larger apartment building across the street with 49 units, all of them designated for people with low and very low income. It would require an extension of Alfreda Way from behind Lowes to connect with Industrial Street. The project is consistent with zoning and the General Plan. The Planning Commission will consider issuing permits at their meeting in the Council Chambers at 4 O’clock Tuesday afternoon.
